NOTICE
OF RACE
The Rolex IMS Offshore World Championship 1999 will be held at Porto Cervo, Sardinia, Italy from the 12th to the 19th of September.
The regatta is organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) under the authority of the Offshore Racing Council (ORC) and the auspices of the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV). The Title Sponsor for the Regatta is Montres Rolex SA, Geneva.

The YCCS Race Headquarters for the regatta will be located in the Marina of Porto Cervo.
2 ELIGIBILITY
The regatta is open to all yachts rated IMS (Cruiser/Racer and Racing) complying with ORC special regulations for category 2.
Yachts participating
at the regatta will be divided into three classes:
Big Class, GPH between 435.0 and 534.9
inclusive with maximum LOA 26 mt
Medium Class, GPH between 535.0 and 594.9
inclusive
Small Class, GPH between 595.0 and 644.9
inclusive with minimum LOA 9 mt
LOA and GPH limits for each category will be confirmed in the final NOR in agreement with the ORC.
Each boat shall comply with the IMS Rules and Regulations. A copy of the current IMS certificate shall be submitted with the entry form to the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda by the 1st of August 1999. Late entries may be accepted at discretion of the Organising Authority. No complimentary moorings are assured for late entries.
Final certificates shall be submitted to the YCCS Race Office prior to 12.00 hours on the 12th of September 1999. Changes of ratings and classes shall not be possible after that time unless prescribed by the Measurement Committee.

Race Committee and/or the International Jury.
In the event of a conflict between any of the above rules and/or regulations and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing Instructions shall prevail.
English shall be the official language used at the regatta.
4 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available for competitors upon final registration on the 12th of September 1999.
5 EVENT CLASSIFICATION AND ADVERTISING
The regatta is designated Category B, ISAF Appendix G of the RRS.
The Organising Authority may require all boats to hoist a sponsor's pennant and/or to apply a sponsor's decal to both sides of the bow for the duration of the regatta commencing immediately following registration until 1 hour after the finish of the last race and, whilst in port, boats may be required to fly the event flag. The pennant, the event flag and the decal will be provided by the Organising Authority.
Furthermore, the Organising Authority may request to install satellite monitor equipment, whose installation is very simple. The equipment constitutes a small antenna and an apparatus with a total weight of 1,4 kgs. needing 12V power connected to the on board power supply. This equipment has been checked to ensure no interference with the instrumentation and the various communications equipment on board. The Organising Authority will organise the installation .
6 JURISDICTION AND INTERNATIONAL JURY
The regatta will be sailed under the jurisdiction of the Race Committee and the International Jury appointed by the Organising Authority in accordance with RRS 70.4 (c) and Appendix Q. All decisions of the International Jury shall be final.

Race means Windward-Leeward or Inshore Race.
Two races may take place on Tuesday the 14th, Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th of September.
The Organising Authority reserves the right to change the above programme for weather conditions or other reasons.
8 ENTRIES & ENTRY FEE
Entries shall be made via each yacht's National Authority and must be received, completed in full, by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda not later than the 1st of August 1999, accompanied by a non refundable entry fee of US$ 900 per yacht. Each entry shall be accompanied by one copy of the current rating certificate.
The Organising Authority reserves the right to accept entries after the 1st of August 1999.

9 RACING AREA AND CHARTS
The racing area will be in the area of North Eastern Sardinia (The following charts are recommended no. 42, 43, 323, 324, 325, 910 II).
10 REGISTRATION
Final Registration formalities must be completed at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda's Race Office by the 12th of September before 12.00 hours, submitting the crew list with the names and weight of each crew member.
Italian competitors shall be in compliance with the Italian Sailing Federation Rules.
All crew weights shall be verified using the scales provided by the YCCS.
11 SCORING AND PENALTIES
The ORC scoring and penalties system as indicated in the Green Book, Paragraph 7, shall apply.
12 ELECTRONIC AIDS
All types of electronic equipments are permitted.
13 COMMUNICATIONS
All boats shall be equipped with a Marine VHF transceiver operating on VHF channel 72.
14 INSPECTIONS
Boats shall be at the disposal of the Measurement and Inspection Committee from 10.00 hours on the 12th of September 1999.
15 TROPHIES AND PRIZES
In addition to the Offshore World Cups, prizes will be awarded to the winner of each race for each class and to the first 3 places for the series in each class. Trophies for boats not represented at the Prize Giving Ceremony will not be awarded.
16 MOORINGS
The entry fee includes mooring fees from 10.00 hours on the 12th of September to 10.00 hours on the 20th of September 1999, at Porto Cervo Marina or Port East provided that the completed entry form and entry fee are received by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda before the 1st of August 1999.
Complimentary moorings are not included for late entries. They may be provided at cost, if available.
The cost of electricity, water consumption and telephone as well as mooring fees for additional periods must be paid directly to the Marina Office by the participants.
For bookings of moorings prior the event dates and for tenders please apply directly to the Marina Management Office (Tel. (+39) 078991100, Fax (+39) 078991153).
Free moorings may be available for a short period after the end of the event.
Containers may be stored free of charge at the YCCS Sports Centre for the period of the regatta. Early booking of place is recommended.
Immediately before the Rolex IMS Offshore World Championship, the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup will take place in Porto Cervo and, due to space limitations, moorings should be booked well in advance.

The Organising Authority, Montres Rolex SA, YCCS, ORC, FIV, The Strategic Organisation Ltd. and any other party involved with the organisation of the Rolex IMS Offshore World Championship disclaim any and all responsibility whatsoever for loss, damage, injury or inconvenience that might occur to persons and goods, both ashore and at sea as a consequence of participation in the event.
The attention of competitors is drawn to ISAF Part 1 Fundamental Rule 4: a boat is solely responsible for deciding whether or not to start or to continue racing.
